I am loving the jojo cuffed jean right now (similar to the picture here, but a little looser fit - so sold out that I can't even find a picture!), and after seeing them look uber gorgeous on my sister last weekend, I promptly ordered a pair online from Repeat Posessions' website.

In Toronto, the Store WE! on Queen East carries some of the line, but don't count on a huge inventory of sizes as they obviously sell out fast!

SNO Jewellery + Joelle's Fashion Show = an awesome night!

I hit another fashion show as part of Burlington Fashion Week last Friday night, and I have to say it was one of the most fun evenings I've had in a long time! Surrounded by a packed house of hilarious, energized, fun fashionistas was totally invigorating! The show was put on by my fave local shop - Joelle's - and focused on the launch of SNO jewellery here in Canada, and it did not disappoint! First let me say I very much appreciated the cosmos and apps from The Water Street Cooker, and the fact that the event supported Halton's Womens Place, but onto the fashion... Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics in the back was doing free nailpolish and I couldn't resist some due to the fabulous choice of colour names (ex: Brazen Hussy and Sweet Ass made it into my bag). The SNO line of jewellery is gorgeous, interesting, unique, and the entire line changes every 3 months so you don't have to worry about everyone having the same items as you (hi Tiffany bracelet, I'm talking to you)! They use such a great mix of materials - silver, leather, gemstones, crystals - it's really beautiful stuff and can be worn so many different ways. Their necklaces become bracelets or belts with ease! And the backdrop of clothes that the models were wearing looked SO spectacular (as they strutted their stuff to Swedish hits from Abba and the like...) that we all felt compelled to run up the street to the Store afterwards and grab some for ourselves! I definitely have my night-out-in-NYC dress now!

Sunday review of the Met Gala!

Ahhhh...GLAMOUR!
It's Sunday...you've got a few minutes (or more) to lounge at your computer this morning and what better way to surf while sipping your coffee than to peruse all the gorgeousness that was last week's Costume Institute Gala at The Met! Yeah, last week you saw a FEW highlights on the usual entertainment recap shows while you were eating dinner, but if you REALLY want photos, click HERE and see 96 pics of the best dressed people in North America all at the same party! Here are my personal notes:
- Biggest Tatas: Christina Hendricks (left), by a MILE. Did they get a separate table at dinner?
- Larger Than Life: Andre Leon Talley literally making Whoopie Goldberg look like a miniature doll.
- 99% Sure: Kate Hudson with a plunging neckline showing off, in my opinion, newfound cleave.
- Still Ick the Second Time Around: Sienna and Jude. Hot or not, he shlepped the nanny. But then again, she shlepped a married man with 4 kids. It's an ickiness tie. You both lose.
- Finally: a recently-gave-birth woman who actually looks like she recently gave birth (but still hot) - Padma Lakshmi
- Risky but I love it: Tina Fey. My girl crush continues, even though this jumpsuit is crazy.
- Biggest Hair: Dylan Lauren. Are you hiding candy from your shop in there?
- All kinds of No: Eva Mendes. Please never do this again. Any of it.
- Vegas Showgirl: Gisele. I still don't like you because Bridget was pregnant when you stole him. We gals gotta do better for eachother than that.
- Best overall: Zoe Saldana in a gorgeous and timeless Calvin Klein. A fitting tribute to the theme of the American woman by an American designer!

Last night's fashion show was such a good time! The place was packed, the food and service at Honey West was great, the ticket proceeds went to a good cause (Halton Women's Place shelters) Vanessa was great company as usual, and most importantly, the fashion show itself was a treat to watch! I particularly liked the men's outfits from Jeff's Guy Shop, the women's outfits from Joelle's, the glam accessories from J.J.Orr, the jeans & jeggings from J&C Savvy Couture, and the gorgeous and trendy sunglasses by Specs on Pearl! I also loved all the awesome goodies in my gift bag, including a $10 gift certificate for J&C Savvy Couture, a 25% off certificate for Ohh! + My Backshed Too, a $25 gift certificate off jeans at Joelle's + free (and very cute) earrings, and a giant $50 off certificate for Specs on Pearl!

So its Burlington Fashion Week this week - and this year I have decided to partake in some of the festivities by attending tonight's Fashion Show at Honey West downtown. Clothes, martinis, and my awesome friend Vanessa accompanying me - who can say no to that? After having taken in (online, of course) some of the highlights from Toronto Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week, NY Fashion Week, etc..., I think what will be missing will be the presence or showcasing of any local DESIGN talent, as the fashion shows seem to be highlighting retail stores from Burlington, not designers from Burlington, but regardless - ya gotta start somewhere. Hopefully one day this will turn into a showcase for local talent AND the retailers who support them. Of course, maybe I'm wrong and tonight will be a pleasant surprise? Stay tuned!
