Burlesque in Toronto?

Every time I see Dita Von Teese I honestly can't help but think Burlesque is a good thing (and not the movie with Cher & Christina Aguilera...let's not even go there).  Her makeup is always as perfect as a china doll, and her fashion is trend-setting and somehow modern while always paying homage to the days when Burlesque first started back in the 19th century!  Don't be fooled into thinking it's just a fancy stripclub...anyone 'in the know' understands that it's not even close to that.  Contortionists, magicians, and creative & erotic entertainment are what you'll find at Toronto's new club Jezebel in the west end of downtown.  I'm intrigued...and if I were a little braver, I might even check it out in person.  Imagine a weekend checking in to the hip Thomson hotel, grabbing dinner at Scarpetta then checking out Jezebel... A memorable Toronto weekend to be sure!

If someone asked you to name a chain of bridal shops in Canada....could you?  Probably not, as there aren't really any of note.  That's about to change though, as the very popular American bridal destination David's Bridal is here!  I'm not really a fan of chains, per se, but I do think it's about time that Canadian women had more options and got more value when they're shopping for one of the most important days of their lives!  With gorgeous, modern lines like Vera Wang White and extremely competitive prices, how can you not at least take a look?  I love this 2-in-1 gown that goes from ceremony to dancing at the reception with the ease of a zipper!  And of course they also carry bridal party dresses, shoes & accessories galore, and tuxedos too! Elizabeth Taylor: Fashion & Jewels

In honour of one of the last remaining true Hollywood legends, the amazing Elizabeth Taylor, I thought it would be appropriate to share a link to some of her most glamorous outfits and jewels.  Of course Dame Elizabeth was rightfully better known and appreciated for her humanitarian work and acting abilities, but her style and beauty certainly helped complete the package!  I love this photo where she is totally channeling her contemporary cohort, Grace Kelly (who was only 3 years her senior).  What a legacy.  Here's hoping today's young starlets take notice...
